April 2012

Remember Kony 2012? Seems like just yesterday we all jumped on the LRA bandwagon.

Remember when the Invisible Children’s Organization proposed “Cover the Night” in which ordinary citizens, like ourselves, would help make Kony famous by putting up some last minute photocopied Kony flyers on street signs and electric posts on a Friday night.

Well, if you forgot or were too busy watching New Girl on Hulu, don’t feel bad. We all did.

However, the Invisible Children didn’t forget. They spent their Friday night painting this mural in San Diego’s gay-friendly neighborhood, Hillcrest. Unfortunately, the organization forgot Hilllcrest was harboring up-and-coming “artists” who have a different attitude about the organization’s goals to stop Kony.

“Don’t believe the hype.”

I don’t believe my eyes.

So many problems, so little time, and so little importance among us.

“Yo, where my bees at?!”

Turns out they are dying.

Why?

Because we’re human and we like to destroy nature.

But here’s how you can help.

Dear College Counselor,

How many Secret Service Agents does it take to screw a prostitute?

One to many. Right?

The Daily Weekly

Yes. I did see the Kony 2012 Youtube video. So did 80 million others all over the world. And I’m sure I wasn’t the only gay guy hoping to see more of Jason Russell every time I replayed the video. In fact, I think after watching the video several times I was more concerned with what Mr. Russell looked like than for the children. I had completely forgotten about Kony and the LRA, and was fascinated by Mr. Russell.

Was I developing a “celebrity” crush?

Yes, yes I was, no doubt about it. But my premature crush soon developed into curiosity. I wanted, no, needed to know more about Russell. So like any normal person, I opened a new tab on my browser, went on to Google and typed, “Is Jason Russell gay?”

I needed to know because I was considering having him be my role model, my gay role model. Why? Because Jason seemed like a humanitarian-philanthropist-activist-father, and LGBT people like me need role models we can identify with. Is that too much to ask?

Anyways, as I was scrolling through the results page I saw lots of yes’ and no’s. I was very confused. Was Jason Russell gay or not? It was a simple question, and yet there were too many unclear answers.

However, it wouldn’t really matter. Jason Russell would soon be strutting the streets in his birthday suit as if the rapture came and forgot to take him to heaven. Cell phone pics and videos would quickly surface on the web and in peoples TV sets thus ruining Russell’s image and the Kony 2012 campaign. If he was gay, and I know for sure he is not, I wouldn’t be able to make him my role model. He had failed the simple but crucial, “I can handle liquor while under immense stress and not go crazy” test. He failed miserably.

So now I’m here. On Tumblr. Still looking for a role model, a gay role model. Someone I can identify with, preferably someone who is semi-famous but still strives to make the world a better place… for the children.

Is that too much to ask?

March 2012

Unfortunately, Treyvon Martin, a 17-year-old kid died a few days ago. His death was tragic, and the aftermath seems to only exacerbate the situation. Cellphone videos of the Treyvon accident have been uploaded to Youtube causing confusion and even manipulation of the truth. Accidental tweets and retweets of an innocent couple’s home address in Florida has led to piles of hate mail. And just as horrible, people like Kurt Steinberg, on twitter are using the Treyvon death to boost their twitter follower count in order to achieve a level of fame.

We can all agree that the shooting of Treyvon Martin was unnecessary, and personally morally wrong. The best thing any of us can do is just to keep our ignorance to ourselves.

P.s. Get off the internet! It’s Earth Hour.

My mother, like all mothers, loves to talk about other peoples problems. She especially never fails to voice her opinion about her relatives.

Today, Mumsies decided to talk about her brother (my uncle) and his wife’s (my aunt) “pet” problem. But first, let me give a short biography of my uncle and aunt.

My aunt and uncle live in a giant house in the suburbs of East San Diego. They have five children, the youngest is 16 and the oldest is 27. All five of them live at home. Two of the five have boyfriends, and most surprisingly they invited their boyfriends to live with them at the house. Both of them said yes. Also, my aunt’s father lives with them. So in total there are ten people living at my uncle and aunt’s house. And guess what? Each of them has a dog.

That’s right. 10 people. 10 dogs. 1 house.

Mexicans, am I right?

Dear College Counselor (10/16)

Dear College Counselor,

This! Right?

That’s all.

Dear College Counselor (9/16)

Dear College Counselor,

Look at what I found?!

The Conservative Teen magazine!

My prayers have been answered. Finally, there is a magazine that represents teens just like me. A magazine with good wholesome traditional American values that are too often undermined by the liberal media. I am so sick of reading the San Diego City Beat. Those guys are just so darn radical and leftist, who knows why? They’re always complaining about the current economic an political state of the United States, and they’re always trashing conservative politicians like Carl DeMaio. That man is the bee’s knees.

So, do you think you can write me a letter of recommendation? I figured I could send in my resume and maybe work part-time over the summer for their magazine. I always wanted to write for a conservative teen magazine.

Thanks a bunch!

Happy International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination!

That’s a mouth full. Try saying that 5 times fast.
